Beyond the Dirty Dishes

There are days that my daily mom activities feel stale. The laundry appears to be un-ending and it seems as though a good majority of my time is spent hovering over the sink, washing dishes and cramming them into our defective dishwasher. But those moments are small in comparison to the days when I feel so overwhelmed and overjoyed to be a stay at home mom. In the midst of my dishes, Kaiden will catch my attention and I find him playing so contently with his random assortment of toys...you know, stuff like stuffed-dinosaurs mixed in with trains, a few books and a firetruck. Usually this is followed by him catching my stare, and then watching his attempt to hide his smile. It's moments like these where I can't help but stop what I'm doing so I can go play with him. Because, let's face it...dishes and laundry may be a part of the mom job description but they are just tasks providing a means to an end. But spending good, quality time with my son and soaking up all his little quirks, hugs and giggles...now that is one of the many reasons I love it all.
