A HOLY PURSUIT

So Thankful.

These past few days have been extremely difficult for me. For four days straight, Kaiden had fevers averaging 102.8 (but as high as 103.1!) That, in addition to me picking up what seems like a sinus infection has been incredibly miserable. I'm already exhausted with pregnancy and this sickness just seems to wear me down even more. Because Kaiden hasn't been sleeping well (and needs me) I haven't been sleeping well and so there have been many points where a weak body and sleep deprivation have gotten the best of me. Ethan is still gone and the few times we do get to communicate during the day is spent with me updating him on how awful we are doing. I know it's hard for him because there isn't much he can do but he has been extremely encouraging whenever we do get to talk. After stopping by the hospital to pick up a prescription I had filled, I came home to three boxes on my doorstep. The big writing that said, "1-800-Flowers" was an obvious indication where they came from. My sweet husband still showers me with gifts even though he isn't physically here! He sent me a bouquet of flowers (sun-flowers to be specific! They are some of my favorites), a giant box of cookies and a giant tin of popcorn for Kaiden. I've been extremely discouraged lately but alongside learning an incredible lesson through this (I'll save that for another blog post when I have more time,) I've also been overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity of others. This past week alone, I had a friend offer to watch Kaiden (pre-sickness) so that I could have some alone time and relax...in a pinch, I was able to drop Kaiden off at a friend's house so that I could go to the hospital...just yesterday, a friend came over, walked my dog, took out my garbage and ordered me pizza! My mom has an incredibly busy work schedule but stopped it all so she could fly out and give me a hand. And now to receive these gifts on my doorstep from Ethan, I'm just floored. There have been many nights spent with tear-filled eyes, praying to God for some relief and He has blessed me through the hands of so many, totally different individuals and for that I am SO grateful. Thank you for your prayers, thank you for your encouragement and thank you to those who have displayed such selfless actions.

When I told him that daddy mailed him a gift, he must've thought that I said, "Daddy is home!" because he ran out the door looking for him and came back in crying. Once we opened up the tin, however, he seemed a bit more distracted with all the flavored goodness!

I love the little notes he wrote to us! One note says:"Hey Buddy! This popcorn is for you and for you only. ** Until I get home then you can share. You have my permission to eat this with your Cars movie. Mom will let you. Love you buddy. See you soon! Love, Daddy." The other note says:"Enjoy babe! Something sweet to brighten up your day. :) I love you!"I love you so much, Ethan!!!!!! You are so thoughtful.
