A HOLY PURSUIT

Our Little Girl's Name

Coming up with a name for your child is hard. There are so many things to think about: Does it sound good with the last name? Is it easy to yell out loud if you need to get her attention?  Is it on the top 100 list? What does it mean? How does it sound with your other kid's names? I've been so back and forth about Baby Girl's name. The moment we found out she was a she, I started writing down names that I loved (which all happened to be 4 letters long.) I wanted something completely unique. I love Kaiden's name but it is now on the top 100 list and we've met sooooooo many Caden/Kaden/Kaiden's...both boys and girls alike. At the time it wasn't popular but I wanted to make sure I avoided that with baby #2. I spent a lot of time scouring through baby name websites and top 100 lists as well as as up-and-coming name lists. I actually got to a point of frustration because most of my "unique" choices were on both of those lists! Ethan told me that I needed to stop stressing about it and one day it would just come to me. We were both sitting on the couch one afternoon when Ethan came up with the name that won me over. I've written it out, I've said it out loud multiple times and I even like the way it looks in text messages. We've been calling her this name for several months and have decided that this is the name we are going with...

We have settled on naming her: Skye Zahara Jago. There is no significant meaning (Skye means sky; Zahara is hebrew for bright/shining) but I just absolutely love it. I haven't met her face to face but I've been carrying her around enough for me to know that Skye is the perfect name for her. (Zahara is pronounced zah-hah-rah, by the way.) We did painted letters for Kaiden's room and for Skye's I decided to do something a bit more creative. I used some leftover floral wire I had and covered it with fake foliage to match the boho/earthy look I'm going for in her room. We hung it on her wall today as one of the final finishing touch's to her nursery. I hope she loves her name as much as I do. I'm glad I can finally start posting stuff and reference her as Skye rather than just a generic Baby Girl...makes it a bit more personal, I'd say! ;)
